Madrid – Dag 7
Deze keer niet door mijzelf maar door mijn ‘rechterhand’ Mats Merkel.
Today we had a combined session with Ayumi Morita and Sorana Cirstea from 9am – 11am. The entire Team was at the practice (Sven, Darren and myself) and Morita’s coach Junichi.
We did a lot of 2 on 1 drills, where the 2 players are moving the other one around. Its not only physically demanding but also metally since wherever you hit the ball will always come back in a perfect scenario. So you have to overcome this mental obstacle.
After that Darren and i had a practice session with Philipp Kohlschreiber who asked us the day before if we (the team) could spend some on court time with him. Today was the 2nd session and we worked on opening the courtfrom a cross-court ralley.
In the meantime Sven was on court with Maria Kirilenko who had a day off but practiced with her doubles partner Agniezka Radwanska. After our hit with Philipp was finished i went to the locker room to take a shower and change.
I saw the Babolat Racket Bag of Rafael Nadal. The most impressive about his tennis bag is neither the design nor the rackets that are in there, but the 6 STARS that are printed on the outside of his bag representing the number of Grand Slams he won.
AUSTRALIAN OPEN CHAMPION
Its reall impressive how Rafa also started the Clay Season. Both events on clay he played so far he won. Monte Carlo against Verdasco in the Finals and Rome against Ferrer in the finals.
At 3:30 we then had another session with Sorana Cirstea. Again Darren, Sven and i were on court with her. We spent about 2 hours on court with her.
Thats it for today…. 🙂
